 American Au Pair Program


If you are looking for an au pair for your children consider our au pair alternative. We will make every effort to find a live-in nanny for you with any ethnical/cultural background. That includes fluency in their native language and in most cases English as well. Such nannies will provide to you all the advantages of an au pair without au pair risk or au pair cost. To make the choice of a child care easier for you we provide the short comparison of a 'regular' au pair and an American au pair we can provide:

AMERICAN AU PAIR
  • Permanent resident or a citizen of the US
  • Cost is about 3 times less or more
  • Does not require any visa or an immigration status
  • The time of the stay/contract is not limited but must be at least a year
  • Unless otherwise requested by a customer our staff is fluent in English
  • Your child benefits from exposure to a different culture/language
REGULAR AU PAIR
  • An international student citizen of the US
  • Cost is about 13,000 - 18,000 or more

 Our Screening Process


We realize that much more than our success is riding on finding the right candidates. The happiness of families, the healthy growth of children and the success of the nannies and Mother's Helpers themselves are at stake as well. We have an extensive interviewing process with the prospective nannies.  We thoroughly check their childcare employment history, general employment history,  DMV records, criminal records and health records to insure they posses the qualities essential to being a good nanny. We also ask or prospective nannies to fill out an extensive questionnaire and perform a telephone interview with all their references as well as check education transcripts. All American Nannies must have a minimum of a high school equivalent level of education. We seek out nannies who have a background in childcare, preferably college courses in early education.

 What Should We Look For in A Nanny?


First and foremost, you should look for a loving , nurturing nanny who has your child's best interests at heart. You should also seek out a nanny who has similar, goals and interests as your family. Through our extensive screening process we are able to refine our search for a nanny who meets your individual needs. The minimum requirements of becoming a nanny include:

  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • You must be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent
  • Willing to relocate
  • Willing to make at least a one years commitment or more
  • Unmarried with no children
  • Be able to provide us with at least 3 childcare references

 What Are The Responsibilities of A Nanny?

As a nanny, your primary responsibility will be child care. Typical daily tasks include but are not limited to:

  • feeding
  • dressing
  • bathing
  • playing
  • assistance with chores
  • reading
  • social activities (i.e. birthday parties, play groups)
  • assistance with homework
  • carpooling
You may also be asked to help your family perform light housekeeping and chores.
These might include:
  • laundry
  • shopping and errands
  • simple meal preparation
  • loading/emptying dishwasher
  • tidying up at end of day
Each nanny's responsibilities are different and should be negotiated with the family or employer prior to placement.

 What Are a Nanny's Hours?


The hours are dependant on the specific needs of the family/employer.  A typical work schedule is Monday through Friday. Typically a work week is 40-50 hours. We require a one year commitment. Nannies usually receive 2 weeks paid vacation plus 6 paid holidays.

 What Is A Nanny's Salary?


A nanny's salary is dependant on the amount of children and the nanny's responsibilities. The average nanny salary ranges from $250-$800 for a live-in nanny.

 What Other Cost Will I Incur?


Additional costs you may incur include:

  • Taxes - Legally a nanny's salary is taxable. Tax policies should be decided between the nanny and the family. All-American Nanny can assist in providing the appropriate forms.

  • Benefits - Health Insurance, automobile insurance, if she is a driver of the family automobile. Travel expenses, 2 weeks paid vacation, 6 paid holidays.
  • Accommodations - Private room (for live-in), Separate car for nanny's use if possible.
  • Application- A $100.00 application fee is required.
  • Placement Fee- A $2,400.00 placement fee is paid for all nannies placed by
    All-American Nanny. Combined cost to the family for application and referral/placement is $2,500.00.
 Is There a Guarantee?


Absolutely! At All American Nanny we are confident with our ability to match loving, qualified nannies with families with similar goals and interest that we provide the following guarantee:

75 Day Guarantee - The 75 day grace period is the standard grace period needed to adjust and initiate a routine. In the event the employment relationship is terminated within the initial 75 days from when the nanny begins employment, All-American Nanny will refer two replacement candidates, until Client selects a replacement candidate, at no additional charge.  If your nanny should leave after 75 days up to 11 months we will also assist you in finding a replacement nanny. We will prorate your fee for the balance of your replacement nanny's year. The prorated fee will be calculated starting the date your original nanny begins her employment with you.
